Gas Pump Safety Tips

GetGo® is concerned for your safety. For that reason, please follow these simple tips to make your refilling experience a safe one:

  • Never step over the fuel hose
  • Turn your engine off before using the pump
  • Don't smoke near the pumps as gasoline is highly flammable
  • Remain outside your vehicle while filling to avoid possible vapor fires through friction
  • Remain at your pump while filling
  • Turn off your cell phones and leave them in the vehicle
  • Never siphon gasoline by mouth
  • Keep the gas nozzle away from your eyes and skin
  • Avoid breathing in gasoline vapors for extended periods
  • Do not overfill or "Top Off" your gas tank

Also, remember that when filling portable fuel containers that it is illegal to fill unapproved containers. When filling an approved container, place it on the ground to avoid static electricity ignition of fuel vapors. And never fill a container while it is in your vehicle/trunk/truck bed/trailer.

Never fill your container completely. Allow space at the top of the container for vapor expansion.
